Accuracy Test #2
This is your take-home test. You have two tasks to complete through video-recording.
You have until Friday, March 1st, 2012 at 5:00 pm to complete this part of the test. Good luck!
1. Search the internet or read in the local newspapers to find out 2 possible activities that we can participate in as a class in the near future. You will need to know all the necessary information about each of your activities. Include information about the following:
- Name of the activity,
- Date and time of the activity (use the appropriate prepositions to say date and time)
- Place and cost of the activity (use the appropriate prepositions to describe the address of this place)
- What do we need to bring to participate in this activity?
- Why do you think this activity is a good one to participate in?
When you have all this information, record you
response in Quicktime (see the instructions below). You may look at notes while you respond, but please do not just READ your notes. Try to speak in your own words.
Instructions:

2. Practice reading the following passage. Pay close attention to your pronunciation, intonation, and stress. You may practice it with a tutor or a native speaker if you like. This is a take-home test, so use all the resources you can think of! Then, when you feel ready, record your response in Quicktime (see instructions below the prompt).
When a student from another country comes to study in the United States, he has to find out for himself the answers to many questions, and he has many problems to think about. Where should he live? Would it be better if he looked for a private room off campus or if he stayed in a dormitory? Should he spend all of his time just studying? Shouldn't he try to take advantage of the many social and cultural activities which are offered? At first it is not easy for him to be casual in dress, informal in manner, and confident in speech. Little by little he learns what kind of clothing is usually worn here to be casually dressed for classes. He also learns to choose the language and customs that are appropriate for informal situations. Finally he begins to feel sure of himself. But let me tell you, my friend, this long-awaited feeling doesn't develop suddenly, does it. All of this takes will power.
